9 Space Bodies Big Orrery Miniature Alien Sun and Planet System in Wood Table Sculpture

You can buy it at <[link]

One of my table top creations. The name for this type of item is an ORRERY! Steampunk inspired but based in real historical science (the concept, not the actual system shown!). In real life it would be much larger and mechanical with moving gears and whatnot... a way to see the planets and other heavely bodies move around each other and their star no matter it it were our solar system or another.

In this case we must settle for a non moving minature replica of this far flung alien star system complete with large miniature style slender base in dark copper, really a bronze finish, pink gold sun surrounded a whopping total of NINE planetary bodies including main planets and moons of various sizes and colors like blue, green, earthen bronze, copper, silver, golds, etc.!

Each one is perched on a gracefully curved and bouncy wire in their orbits. Done in various metallic finishes. And at the bottom of the base you'll find a faux mother of pearl inset in metal "start" button... alas, no longer working! This item is almost 6" tall by 6" across! (reminder, 2.5 cm per inch)...

Made almost 100% from wood (sometimes with tiny amounts of other things) I paint and / or finish these with dark undertones and shading to highlight the details and then use layers of metallic and / or other coloring and finishes, making sure a lot of details shine through, often even the wood grain despite high tech themes. They maintain an often retro, sometimes even rustic look and feel to them, like an "olde worlde" toy or something (some more so than others).
