Old Vic Steampunk Retro Ray Gun LIFE SIZE Science Fiction WOOD Replica

You can buy it at <[link]

The closest thing you will find to a "real, live ray gun," like in the old comics, movies, serials, and science fiction stories. These are a part of my "Retro Tech" series made out of wood (of all things) which gives them a cool look and feel -- kind of like an old toy, or a curios piece made my an olde worlde craftsman of a previous century, or maybe even Santa...

I love making these!

One of the earliest known and widely respected ray guns from the beginning of the "Steampunk Wars" oh, so long ago... Old Vic is a cherished classic. So called with humor AND respect after Queen Victoria and the unusually active part she played in those dastardly times (little known today!). As most of the early models she had but one "function" as there were no controls; like the old gunpowder firearms you simply pointed and pulled the trigger! A dual primer set up allowed for firing at what would have been double the rate otherwise; they are connected to the main barrel body by two flexible, metal tubules. They ignited the ethereal gases and created a plasmotic blast of electrified heat with a terrible kickback! This one's a real beauty in design and function (it's rumored the old queen carried one herself!).

It's longest dimension is about 9 1/2" with the top only barrel length being about 7 1/2"!

This is a FULL, LIFE SIZE replica (or 1:1 scale finished model) all ready for display. I hope the pictures fully communicate the charm I am sure you will find in the final product when you have it in your hands. This ray gun is designed by me as an original, then painstakingly put together and made by hand from various woods and wood pieces, occassionally with other bits or materials (generally like 97-99% is wood). I paint and / or finish these with dark undertones and shading to highlight the details and then use layers of metallic and / or other coloring and finishes. I try to let just enough of the wood character, sometimes even the grain itself show through which I think adds a special dimension.

Looks very War of the worlds-ish.
